Skiing and Snowboarding

Austria, France, Germany, Italy and Switzerland Skiing and Snowboarding

Beginners and expert skiers alike feel right at home on the varied slopes of the Alpine ski resorts. Ranging from gentle practice slopes to highly challenging runs, you will be sure to find the ideal spot for you to show off your skills. Excellent ski schools provide classes as well as private instructors and the reputation of their expertise travels well beyond the alpine region. Snowboarders will find fun parks and special snowboard facilities, and endless miles of cross country tracks take sports enthusiasts to the most beautiful hidden spots in the Alps.

Austria:
Austria is famous for its ski schools, which date back almost to the beginning of the 20th century. Having played a major part in the development of skiing styles and techniques, they provide state of the art instruction, seasoned with Austrian charm and “Gemuetlichkeit”. Another great aspect about skiing in Austria is that the slopes are dotted with cozy sun terraces, charming skiing huts and excellent restaurants, because after an exhilarating day of physical activity, we Austrians love to reward ourselves with warm and satisfying meals or simply a mug of hot chocolate in the afternoon sun.

The Black Forest is another favorite among winter sport enthusiasts. The clear summit air stimulates respiration and gets your blood flowing, leaving you feeling healthy and rejuvenated. Highlights are the Black Forest backpack run, where participants endure 62 miles from Schonach to Belchen for the World Cup, and the ski-jumping tournaments in Schönwald and Neustadt.

Italy:
Dolce Vita, that's the lifestyle! Italy’s mountains are some of the world's most beautiful real estate! The geography offers plenty of good ski resorts, including the famous chic resort of Cortina d'Ampezzo or the powdery soft slopes of Courmayeur. Each winter Italians spend the settimana bianca (white week) skiing in any of the top resorts. You can't talk about Italian skiing without the Dolomiti Superski Area. The resorts of the Alta Badia, Marmolada Glacier, Val di Fassa and Val Gardena make up the Superski Area, which may be the largest interconnected ski region in the world, consisting of over 460 lifts: it is said that “there are so many pistes you could ski for weeks without coming down the same one twice…”.
